Hybrid poly-lactide/gelatin electrospun scaffolds with controlled hydrophilicity and wettability.Tuesday (09.05.2017) 18:48 - 18:51 Part of:
In this work different hybrid poly-lactide (PLA)/gelatin (GE) scaffolds were electrospun and characterized. By changing the PLA:GE ratio we were able to module the swelling properties of the scaffolds. On the other hand performing the cross-linking in presence of hyaluronic acid (HA) we could obtain scaffolds with a wide range of hydrophobicity depending on the used HA concentration. The scaffolds were all characterized with scanning electron microscopy (SEM), tensile testing, contact angle measurements and swelling analysis. Their biocompatibility was verified by performing a cell proliferation assay. The final idea of this work is that of obtaining biocompatible and biodegradable scaffolds whose properties can be tuned depending on the desired final application.
